As with must water based subjects, Rivers can be excellent locations for the landscape photographer. But whilst beautiful, they also present challenges as it can often be difficult to get into position to create strong compositions.
The time of day and year can also be important, Autumn dawn providing possibly the best conditions. As the air temperature starts to drop quickly at night you can expect to see mist rising from the surface of slower moving rivers. This can happen at night but is most prevalent at dawn.
