Installing Camera Profiles in Lightroom for Windows and Mac
Installing camera profiles in Lightroom can be tricky and frustrating. It’s difficult to know exactly where to install the profiles and if they don’t work, the process can leave you scratching your head. In this video, we cut through the confusion and show you where to place your bespoke camera profiles.
If you have never used Camera Profiles in Lightroom before, you must watch this. These powerful, tiny information files can make a huge difference to the processing results you can achieve by converting your camera RAW files. They instruct Lightroom how it should decode a RAW file to convert it to an image, either colour or black and white. With the right camera profile, you can save a lot of editing time and achieve results with almost a click of your mouse.
There are many free camera profiles that can be downloaded from the Lenscraft website, including the “neutral” infrared EM5 profile used in the video. You will also find other bespoke profiles for other cameras elsewhere on the internet. If you want to try these out, it’s essential you understand how to install a profile. This is also important if you want to take advantage of my follow up video which will demonstrate how to edit and create your own unique profiles. I suspect many of you will not have seen how to do this before and you will need to know how to install these profiles to benefit.
