Why Free Photography Tutorials
Back in the pre-digital days of photography, becoming a great photographer was all about skill with the camera, creative vision, composition and timing. But today, the game of photography has changed significantly. The skills and experience that once propelled you to the top of the game are still important. But there’s now something else you need to master and that’s digital photo editing.
You may be able to capture the most wonderful photography, but if you don’t know how to edit it, your photography will never be the best. Actually, it’s worse than that, your photography might even go completely unnoticed.
This is the problem I had around 2001; not that my photography was very good back then. At the time Photoshop was the only viable option for photo editing and learning it was hard. Very little information was available and the people who knew about photo editing didn’t want to share the secrets. For the next 10 years, I made it my goal to learn everything I could about photography, Photoshop and other photo editing tools.
Although my original goal was to be a professional photographer, along the way I had a realisation. I found that I really enjoy helping other photographers and that’s when I started to publish tutorials. Lenscraft draws these tutorials together and now exists as a resource for photographers wanting to improve their photography. Best of all, the tutorials are completely free. I earn my living with the odd affiliate link on the site (but only for products I personally own) and the books I publish.
